Welcome to Grafenort
Grafenort is much more than an unavoidable bottleneck to reach the high valley. The Herrenhaus built in 1690, the Chapel of the Holy Cross directly opposite and the Grafenort Wirtschaft form a culturally and historically significant baroque triad in Grafenort.
The oldest building is the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It was built in 1689 by the later master builder of the collegiate church in Einsiedeln and renovated in 2016/2017. Its sacred space invites you to pause and pray.
The Grafenort Herrenhaus is only one year younger. It once served as the winter residence of the Abbot of Engelberg, where he received his guests. Today, thanks to its special ambience, the Grafenort Herrenhaus is very popular as a venue for business or private events such as civil weddings, etc.
Built in 1778, the Grafenort Wirtschaft is the newest building in the baroque triad. Guests can enjoy the delights of the cuisine in the cozy restaurant or on the sun terrace. Engelberg host Thomas Matter and his team will surprise you with regional and seasonal products.
