The imposing, whitewashed house directly on the railroad line and road to Engelberg cannot be overlooked. At times it served as a vacation home for the abbot and monks of the Engelberg monastery, which is why it was given the name “Herrenhaus”. Today, the prestigious building is open to the public for seminars, conferences and other events. For years, the Herrenhaus has also been a popular venue for civil weddings and wedding receptions. In addition, the Mountain Habitat Foundation regularly organizes lecture series on a wide variety of topics.
